Another simple change you can do on you car is a change of a air filter. Although simple, it's very important for the proper functioning of your engine (this goes double for turbo charged engines). If it's not clear how much this kind of replacement is important, imagine how you would feel running a track with severe asthma. This replacement should be done along with every oil change, air filters aren't expensive for most cars but they mean a lot.

Changing Air Filter Procedure

1. Open the filter casing. Different models have different systems, if you can't open the casing by hand use the proper tools (in most cases a multipurpose screw-driver will do the job).
2. After opening, take out the old filter and wipe the casing clean with a cloth (sometimes their's dust, flies etc.)
3. Take the new air filter, put it in place and make sure that it fits properly
4. Put the top of the filter casing back and tighten it.

In between changing, you can take out the filter and clean it, especially if you've driven a long time on dusty roads. Just take the filter out of the casing and dust it out(best with a compressor pistol-if not available, by hand). Buying advice: it's a good thing to know what kind of engine you have under the hood.
