One of the most important components in an automobile’s engine is the ignition system. The ignition system is used to create the spark that ignites the mixture of fuel and air in the cylinder of an engine.

If you drive a diesel, and you have problems starting the car when the engine is cold or when the temperature is low it's time to check the glow plugs. Besides other problems, this is the number one cause of poor starting with the diesel engine. Diesel engines have, unlike petrol engines, glow plugs that heat up the engine cylinder before the fuel injection. This is crucial for the ignition to happen, otherwise the fuel doesn't achieve the needed temperature for combustion.

The serpentine belt is the belt that drives all the other accessories on the car. It transmits the power of the engine to the alternator, power-steering pump, water pump, the air condition compressor etc. Checking the belt from time to time (about every three months) is a very useful task. You have to notice when the belt is worn out, otherwise it can snap while driving causing serious problems. It won't instantly damage the engine itself but can cause overheating, lack of power supply or else, thus causing damage to the engine, battery etc.

This is really easy task to do. You don't have to know anything about cars and you will know how to deal with this probelm. Tire pressure check is one of the things that takes little time but helps your car a lot  is checking the tire pressure. Incorrect tire pressure not only causes tire damage but has a direct consequence on your safety and stability on the road.

Under basic checking under the hood, after looking at the oil, this is the most important checking. The lack of coolant fluid can cause engine overheating thus causing damage to your car. So, always take care that the level of coolant is between min.and max. on the coolant bottle gauge.

This is also a check that you can make from time to time. This is the first thing you do if you hear funny sounds while turning the steering wheel when the car parked.
